Johanna de Ru was educated at the Swedish School of Textiles in Borås, where she specialised in machine weaving during her master's studies. Previously, she studied crafts at Nyckelviksskolan and was also an exchange student at Aalto University in Helsinki. Her work is characterised by an interest in woven structures and colour schemes, with the material as the starting point.
