Annie has created several successful textiles for Svensson over the years. She mainly grew up in Skåne and currently lives in Kristianstad. Her interest in design was sparked early, and after art studies in Barcelona, she attended the School of Design and Crafts in Gothenburg. Annie trained as a product designer with a special feel for material, structure, and pattern. She received her bachelor's degree in 2010. During her thesis work on “object-specific furniture textiles,” she came into contact with Ludvig Svensson.

A combination of interests in colour, texture, material, architecture, and interior design led Annie to find her calling in the textile industry. Whether she works with design details in limited editions or projects intended for larger productions, Annie approaches each project with the same careful consideration and dedication to detail.

“I previously worked in Amsterdam where I was introduced to the atelier method. An idea is explored by hand through samples, a selection is made, and these are further explored in new samples and sketches. I repeat and refine several times before reaching a final result. A very hands-on way of working that suits me well.”

The future of textile design

Annie is optimistic about the developments that have taken place in the textile industry in recent years, and she looks forward to an increased availability of more sustainable material alternatives.

It is important that the products reaching the market are well developed and deserve their place for a long time.

Annie explains that she feels most inspired when she sits down and works by hand. With each exploration of a project, new ideas are born.

“Every project involves phases of questioning. It is necessary, inevitable and sometimes troublesome, but also what makes my work interesting.”
